‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the sermon of need: "Praise be to Allah. We seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Him from the evils of our souls. Whoever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whoever Allah leads astray, none can guide. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. {O people, fear your Lord Who created you from a single soul, and created from it its mate, and from both of them created countless men and women. Fear Allah in Whose name you ask one another, and be mindful of your kinship ties, for Allah is ever Watchful over you.} [Surat an-Nisā’: 1] {O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.} [Surat Āl-‘Imrān: 102] {O you who believe, fear Allah and say what is right, He will guide you to righteous deeds and forgive your sins. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will surely achieve a supreme triumph.} [Surat al-Ahzāb: 70-71]"

Explanation
Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) informs that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) taught them the sermon of need, which is to be said upon the start of sermons and when in need of something, like the marriage sermon, the Friday sermon and others. This sermon comprises sublime meanings, including that Allah is worthy of all kinds of praise, seeking help from Him alone, with no partner, concealment and pardon of sins, and seeking refuge with Him from all evils, the evils of the souls and others.
Then, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that guidance lies in the Hand of Allah. So, whoever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whoever Allah leads astray, none can guide.
Then, he mentioned the testimony of monotheistic belief and that none is truly worthy of worship except Allah and the testimony that Muhammad is the servant and Messenger of Allah.
He concluded the sermon with these three verses, which contain the command to fear Allah Almighty by observing His commands and prohibitions in pursuit of His pleasure, and state that the reward for those who do so is that they will be guided to righteous deeds and words, their sins and misdeeds will be expiated and forgiven, and they will be given a good life in this world and win Paradise on the Day of Judgment.
Benefits
- It is recommended to commence the sermons on marriage, the Friday prayer, and others with this sermon.
- A sermon should comprise praise of Allah, the two testimonies of faith, and some Qur’anic verses.
- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach his Companions what they needed in their religion.

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) married Maymūnah when he was in the state of Ihrām and consummated marriage with her when he ended his Ihrām. She died in Sarif.
Narrated by Bukhari & MuslimGradeIts chain of narrators is Sahih/Authentic
Explanation
This Hadīth, which is reported by Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him), shows that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) concluded his marriage contract with the Mother of the Believers Maymūnah during the state of Ihrām and consummated marriage with her after he terminated his Ihrām. Maymūnah (may Allah be pleased with her) died in a place between Makkah and Madīnah called Sarif, which is the place where the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) consummated marriage with her.
The scholars mentioned that Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) was inaccurate in saying that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) married Maymūnah during the state of Ihrām, being the only narrator of this incident. Most of the Companions disagreed with him, including Maymūnah and Abu Rāfi‘ who knew the story better than Ibn ‘Abbās. Abu Rāfi‘ (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I was a messenger between the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and Maymūnah. He married her when he was outside the state of Ihrām and consummated marriage with her when he was outside state of Ihrām." Also, Mother of the Believers Maymūnah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say: "He married me when he was outside the state of Ihrām: "So it is possible that Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) did not learn of the Prophet's marriage with Maymūnah except after the Prophet had entered the state of Ihrām. So he thought that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) married her during Ihrām. Commenting on this Hadīth of Ibn ‘Abbās, some scholars said that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) married Maymūnah in the Precincts of Makkah while he was not in the state of Ihrām.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Abu Hind performed cupping for the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) in the middle of his head. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then said: "O Banu Bayādah, marry off (your daughters) to Abu Hind, and ask him to marry off (his daughters) to you.' He added: 'If there is benefit in anything that you use for treatment, then it is cupping.'"
Narrated by Abu DaoudGradeGood hadith
Explanation
This Hadīth shows that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping made for him in his head by Abu Hind (may Allah be pleased with him). It also implies that suitability in family background and profession is not considered in marriage, for the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded Banu Bayādah, one of the Ansār tribes who belonged to the Azdi and Qahtāni Arabs, to marry their daughters off to Abu Hind and marry his daughters. Abu Hind was one of the freed slaves who belonged to Banu Bayādah, and beside being an ex-slave, his job was making cupping, which was a lowly profession in the sight of the Arabs. However, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not pay attention to suitability in family background or profession. Other texts indicate that suitability in religiousness and morals should be considered. Finally, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that among the best methods of treatment is cupping.

This ḥadīth at HadeethEnc.com
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three things are binding regardless of whether they were expressed seriously or jokingly: marriage, divorce, and restoration (of a divorcee)."
Narrated by Ibn Majah - Narrated by At-Termedhy - Narrated by Abu DaoudGradeGood hadith
Explanation
This Hadīth shows that anyone who pronounces words of marriage, divorce, or restoration of a divorcee, even jokingly, his words are legally binding, for in these rulings, words are binding regardless of whether they were serious or not. For example, if a man conducts a marriage contract of his female authorizer, divorces his wife, or restores her verbally, his words become legally binding as soon as he pronounces them regardless of whether he is serious or not. In this type of contracts, the option to revoke in the same session or based on specific stipulations is not available. As these three matters are given great importance in the Shariah, they are not liable to playful treatment or joking, and thus mere utterance of their words makes them legally binding.
