Explained ḥadīths

The Hour will not be established until people boast about mosques

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until people boast about mosques."
Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, An-Nasā’i, and Ibn MājahGradeAuthentic
Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informs that among the signs of the approaching Day of Judgment and the end of the world is that people will begin to boast about the decoration of their mosques or take pride in worldly matters within the mosques—though they were only built for the remembrance of Allah.

Benefits
  1. The act of boasting about mosques is prohibited, and it is an unacceptable act, because it was not done for the sake of Allah.
  2. The prohibition of decorating mosques with colors, dyes, patterns, and inscriptions, because such things distract worshippers when they look at them.
  3. As-Sindi said: This Hadīth is among those whose truth is confirmed by reality, and it is one of the manifest miracles of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him).
