Prophet's Courage

1 ḥadīths

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was never given a choice between two things except that he would choose the easier of the two unless it were a sin. If it were a sin, he would be the farthest of people from it

‘Ā’ishah, Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was never given a choice between two things except that he would choose the easier of the two unless it were a sin. If it were a sin, he would be the farthest of people from it. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) never took revenge for himself, but when the prohibitions of Allah were violated, he would take revenge for the sake of Allah.

Explanation

‘Ā’ishah, Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), informed about some of the morals of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Among what she mentioned was that whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was given a choice between two matters, he would choose the easier of the two, as long as the easier option did not lead to sin. If it led to sin, he would be the farthest of people from it and would then choose the more difficult option. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) never sought revenge for himself exclusively; rather, he would forgive and overlook his own rights. But when the sanctities of Allah were violated, he would seek revenge for the sake of Allah, and he was the most intense in anger for the sake of Allah.

Benefits
  1. It is recommended to choose the easier option in matters, as long as it does not involve disobedience to Allah.
  2. The ease of Islam.
  3. The legitimacy of getting angry for the sake of Allah Almighty.
  4. The Prophet's forbearance, patience, and adherence to the truth in enforcing the limits set by Allah Almighty.
  5. Ibn Hajar said: It indicates refraining from choosing the difficult option, being content with ease, and abstaining from insistence on matters that are not necessary.
  6. Encouraging forgiveness except when it comes to the rights of Allah Almighty.
