If you wish, be patient and you will enter Paradise; or, if you wish, I will supplicate Allah to cure you

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported that he said to ‘Atā’ ibn Abi Rabāh: Shall I show you a woman of the people of Paradise? ‘Atā’ said: Yes. He said: This black woman came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I suffer from epilepsy and, as a result, my body becomes uncovered. So supplicate Allah for me. He said: "If you wish, be patient and you will enter Paradise; or, if you wish, I will supplicate Allah to cure you." She said: I will remain patient. She then said: But I become uncovered, so invoke Allah that I do not become uncovered. So he supplicated for her.

Explanation

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said to ‘Atā’ ibn Abi Rabāh: Shall I show you a woman of the people of Paradise? ‘Atā’ said: Yes. He said: This black Abyssinian woman came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I suffer from an illness that causes me to have seizures, and I become uncovered, revealing parts of my body without my awareness. So supplicate Allah to heal me. He (the Prophet) said: If you wish, be patient and you will enter Paradise, or, if you wish, I will supplicate Allah to cure you. She said: I will remain patient, then she said: Supplicate Allah that I do not become uncovered if I have a seizure, and he supplicated Allah for her.

Benefits
  1. Patience in enduring worldly trials leads to Paradise.
  2. An-Nawawi said: It contains evidence that one who is afflicted with epilepsy receives the most complete reward.
  3. The chastity and modesty of the female Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and their keenness on covering themselves, as this woman's greatest fear was that any part of her body might be exposed.
  4. Ibn Hajar said: Choosing the stricter ruling over the concession is better for one who knows about himself that he is capable and is not weakened by adhering to what is strict.
  5. Ibn Hajar said: It indicates that treating all illnesses through supplication and seeking refuge in Allah is more effective and beneficial than medicinal treatments. The impact of this on the body is greater than that of physical remedies. However, its efficacy depends on two conditions: 1. From the patient's side: sincerity of intention. 2. From the healer's side: the strength of their focus and heart through piety and reliance on Allah, and Allah knows best.
  6. Ibn Hajar said: It contains evidence on the permissibility of abstaining from medical treatment.

for by Allah, if Allah guides a single person through you, that will be better for you than red camels

Sahl ibn Sa‘d (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said on the Day of Khaybar: "Verily, I shall give this banner tomorrow to a man at whose hands Allah will grant victory; He loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him." He said: People spent their night conversing and talking as to whom it would be given. In the morning, people went to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), all of them hoping to be given the banner. He said: "Where is ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib?" It was said: O Messenger of Allah, he is suffering from sore eyes. He said: "Send for him." He was, thus, brought, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) spat into his eyes and supplicated for him. Thereupon, he recovered as if he had suffered no pain at all, so he gave him the banner. ‘Ali said: O Messenger of Allah, should I fight them until they are like us? He said: "Proceed steadily until you reach their courtyard, then, call them to Islam and inform them of what is obligatory upon them from the rights of Allah therein, for by Allah, if Allah guides a single person through you, that will be better for you than red camels."

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed the Companions that Muslims would win victory over the Jews of Khaybar the following day at the hands of a man to whom he would give the banner, which is the flag the army takes as its slogan. Among the traits of this man is that he loves Allah and His Messenger and Allah and His Messenger love him. So, the Companions spent their night conversing and talking about the one who would be given the banner, hoping to win that great honor. In the morning, they went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), each wishing to be the one who would win that honor. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) asked about ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib. It was said: He is sick suffering from sore eyes. So, he (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sent for him, and when they brought him, he spat his honorable saliva into ‘Ali's eyes and supplicated for him. ‘Ali thus recovered from his sickness as if he had suffered no pain at all. Then he gave him the banner and ordered him to proceed gently until approaching the enemy's fortress, and he should then invite them to Islam. In case they respond to him, he should inform them of what is obligatory upon them. Then, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) clarified to ‘Ali the merit of calling people to Allah and the fact that if the preacher succeeds in guiding one single person, that will be better for him than having red camels, which represent the Arabs' most precious property, to possess or give out in charity.

Benefits
  1. Superiority of ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Prophet's testimony for him that he is loved by Allah and His Messenger and that he loves Allah and His Messenger.
  2. The Companions' keenness to pursue goodness and their competing in doing good deeds.
  3. It is a Shariah directive to adhere to good manners in fight, and give up rashness and needless disturbing voices.
  4. Foretelling victory over the Jews and healing the eyes of ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib, by Allah's permission, are among the signs of the Prophet's prophethood.
  5. Making people embrace Islam is the greatest purpose behind Jihad.
  6. Preaching should be carried out gradually, so the disbeliever should be at first asked to embrace Islam by pronouncing the Two Testimonies of Faith, and then he should be commanded to perform the obligations of Islam.
  7. The merit of calling to Islam and the good it entails for the one called and the caller, as the former might be granted guidance and the latter would be greatly rewarded.

There are angels at the entrances of Madīnah, so neither the plague nor the Antichrist shall enter it

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are angels at the entrances of Madīnah, so neither the plague nor the Antichrist shall enter it."
Narrated by Bukhari & MuslimGradeAuthentic hadith
Explanation

The death of my Ummah is by stabbing and the plague

Abu Mūsa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The death of my Ummah is by stabbing and the plague." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, as for stabbing, we know it, but what is the plague?" He said: "Jabbing by your enemies from among the Jinn. In both cases, there are martyrs."
Narrated by AhmadGradeAuthentic hadith
Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) mentions that the death of the majority of the Muslims is caused by two things: First: fighting with weapons against the disbelievers in wars, and inter-Muslim fights at times of civil strife. Second: the plague, which causes widespread and collective death caused by the Muslims' enemies from among the non-Muslim Jinn, by jabbing them. Anyone who dies of either type, killing or the plague, is a martyr. However, some said that in this Hadīth, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) prayed that the members of his Ummah would die of either type so that they attain martyrdom. The first interpretation is the correct one. Allah knows best.

Anyone who practices medicine although he is not known to have learned medicine is liable (to compensate any damage)

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone who practices medicine although he is not known to have learned medicine is liable (to compensate any damage)."
Narrated by Ibn Majah - An-Nasaa’i - Narrated by Abu DaoudGradeGood hadith
Explanation

Anyone who claims to know medicine while he has neither knowledge nor experience in it and thus deludes people into receiving his treatment is responsible for the damages that he causes to them. In this respect, he has transgressed by cheating people and practicing something that he did not master. No difference is reported on the fact that if someone treats another and commits a transgression in the treatment process whereby the sick person who receives treatment is damaged, the treating person is responsible for the damage. The same thing applies to anyone who practices a science or a job of which he has no knowledge; he is a transgressor. If damage results from his practice, he is required to pay blood money for it. However, no retribution is to be inflicted on him, for he handled the sick person with his permission.
