Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Umm Hufayd, Ibn ‘Abbās' aunt, sent some dried yogurt, ghee (butter), and a mastigure (sand lizard) to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ate the dried yogurt and the ghee, but left the mastigure, because he disliked it. Ibn ‘Abbās said: “The mastigure was eaten at the table of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and if it had been unlawful to eat, it could not have been eaten at his table.”
Where the Encyclopedia of Translated Prophetic Hadiths (HadeethEnc.com) has the very text of a narration, its translation stands under that narration and is named. The two were paired by program, from the Arabic alone: the entry’s whole text, with the Companion it names, is the end of the narration letter for letter. Nobody has checked the pairing, and Sabīl’s reviewers have not examined the translation. The Arabic is the text.
The Arabic text, the numbering, the book names and the gradings are shown exactly as they stand in an open dataset (hadith-api). Sabīl has not yet verified its accuracy or its rights, and its scholarly review has not begun. Until then, check a narration against a printed edition before relying on it.
