Fussilat
This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. The site does not say who translated it or which printed edition it follows, and states no terms for taking its text, so the right to show it is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there; a verse the site gives no commentary of its own stands with the passage before it, and the index names each such verse. وَقَالُوا۟ قُلُوبُنَا فِىٓ أَكِنَّةٍ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِنَا وَقْرٌ وَمِنۢ بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌ فَٱعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَـٰمِلُونَ 5
{5} "Na wakasema" hao waliokipa mgongo wakibainisha kutokunufaika kwao nacho kwa sababu ya kufungiwa milango ya kukifikia: "Nyoyo zetu zimo katika vifuniko kwa hayo unayotuitia, na masikio yetu yana uziwi" basi hatusikii, "na baina yetu na wewe lipo pazia" basi hatuwezi kukuona. Makusudio yao katika hayo ni kuwa walionyesha kujitenga kwao mbali nacho kwa kila namna, na wakaonyesha chuki yao juu yake na kuridhika kwao na yale waliyokuwa nayo,ndiyo maana wakasema: "Basi wewe tenda, nasi hakika tunatenda." Kama ulivyoridhia kufanya kazi kulingana na dini yako, basi pia sisi hakika tumeridhia kabisa kufanya kazi kulingana na dini yetu. Na hili ni katika kuachiliwa mbali na Mwenyezi Mungu kukubwa zaidi. Ambapo waliridhia upotofu mbali na uwongofu, na wakabadilisha imani kwa ukafiri, na wakaiuza akhera kwa dunia.
