تيسير الكريم الرحمنThis is the Arabic text of a classical tafsīr as the Quranic Universal Library (QUL, by Tarteel) has it, taken through the open copy of QUL’s data that spa5k/tafsir_api keeps. QUL does not say which printed edition it follows and states no licence for the texts, so the right to show them is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book or a manuscript, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there. Where the text carries a note of an editor’s, in double brackets, it is shown as it stands. There is no translation yet.

وَإِذَآ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا۟ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهَا تَدْمِيرًا 16 وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ نُوحٍ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًۢا بَصِيرًا 17
{16} يخبر تعالى أنه إذا أراد أن يُهْلِكَ قريةً من القرى الظالمة ويستأصلها بالعذاب؛ أمر مُتْرَفيها أمراً قدريًّا، ففسقوا فيها، واشتدَّ طغيانُهم؛ {فحقَّ عليها القولُ}؛ أي: كلمة العذاب التي لا مردَّ لها؛ {فدمَّرۡناها تدميراً}
{17} وهؤلاء أمم كثيرةٌ أبادهم الله بالعذاب من بعد قوم نوح؛ كعاد وثمود وقوم لوط وغيرهم ممَّن عاقبهم الله لما كَثُر بغيُهم واشتدَّ كفرُهم؛ أنزل الله بهم عقابَه العظيم. {وكفى بربِّك بذُنوب عبادِهِ خبيراً بصيراً}: فلا يخافوا منه ظلماً، وأنه يعاقبهم على ما عملوه.
